Today is Yule (Winter Solstice) – the shortest day and longest night of the year. From now on, the days lengthen and the nights become shorter (in the Northern Hemisphere at least). This is one of four sacred astrological days and one of eight Sabbats. On this day, our spiritual connection peaks.
Saturday is ruled by Saturn. Magical influences include healing, spirituality, success, strength, and protection. Get in touch with your spiritual side by celebrating the winter solstice with a bonfire or yule log, and/or light candles in your home at night to symbolize the return of the sun after the long night of winter.
Color of the Day: Blue
Color magic uses various hues to influence energy. Blue is often associated with the element water, truth, peace, tranquility, and family.
It’s a great day to spend time with family members. Wear something blue to keep the peace!
Incense of the Day: Ivy
Magical properties of Ivy include protection and healing. Ivy is carried for good luck in general and worn by brides for the same reason.
If you have access to fresh ivy leaves, place them in a small sachet or jar, and wear on a necklace to bring luck!
Moon of the Day: Waning Virgo
The moon is currently in the third quarter. The waning moon is a time for study, meditation, and little magical work – except magic to banish negative energies.
Moon in Virgo favors accomplishment of details and commands from higher up. Focuses on health, hygiene, and daily schedules.
