PLEASE NOTE: As of this week, I’ve begun to deviate from the information found in Llewellyn’s Yearly Magical Almanac (which I once relied on heavily). As I’ve learned more about color and herb magic, I’ve found that I don’t always agree with the almanac’s selections for color and incense of the day.

Instead, I’ll be choosing color, incense, and crystal of the day based on the current day’s ruling planet and influences – in a way that appeals more to me personally. Sometimes these choices will be the same as those found in the almanac, and sometimes not.

Here are your witchy correspondences for Saturday, January 11, 2025:

Color of the Day: Black
Crystal of the Day: Black Tourmaline
Incense of the Day: Cypress

Moon of the Day: Waxing Gemini to Cancer

Saturday is ruled by Saturn. Magical influences include longevity, exorcism, endings, homes, and houses. It’s a good day to work on projects around the house, focus on your health (longevity), and for grounding rituals/spells.

If you’re performing divination, it’s a good day to ask questions about things you find puzzling, mysterious, and/or intriguing.

Color of the Day: Black

Black is associated with today’s ruling planet, Saturn, and the dark moon. Magical properties of the color black include defense, grounding, power, and mystery.

Although we call it a color, black created by the absence of light, and therefore color. Black absorbs light but reflects none back.

Crystal of the Day: Black Tourmaline

Black Tourmaline is a receptive stone ruled by the planet Saturn and associated with the element earth. It’s magical properties include grounding and protection.

This unique crystal is used for grounding purposes and to represent the earth in spell work relating to that element. It’s also protective and absorbs negativity when charged for that purpose via visualization.

Incense of the Day: Cypress

Cypress is a feminine herb ruled by the planet Saturn and associated with the element earth. Magical properties of cypress include longevity, healing, comfort, and protection.

The cypress tree is protective when grown near your home, and boughs of cypress are used in blessings and protection magic. Since cypress is the symbol of eternity and immortality, it’s wood can be carried to encourage long life. Cypress greenery is healing when dried and burned as an incense.
