Tuesday is ruled by Mars. Magical influences include passion, sex, courage, aggression, and protection.

Color of the Day: White

Color magic uses various hues to influence energy. White is often associated with the crescent moon, purity, innocence, protection, chastity, happiness, spirituality, and peace.

The color white is believed to eliminate negativity, and encourage forgiveness and acceptance.

Crystal of the Day: Quartz

I choose the crystal of the day based on the day’s energy, ruling planet, and associated color. Today is perfect to work with quartz, a projective and receptive stone ruled by both the sun and the moon. Magical properties of quartz include protection, healing, psychism, and power.

I’m lucky to live in an area where quartz crystal is plentiful, and I’ve worked with it extensively throughout my life. It is my “stone of home.” A powerful amplifier of magic, quartz can be worn or placed on the altar during any magical rites – specifically those performed during the full moon.

Incense of the Day: Ylang-Ylang

Ylang-ylang is a tropical tree native to the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, parts of Thailand and Vietnam, and Queensland, Australia. It has a sweet, floral scent that many people find uplifting, calming, and soothing.

Magical properties of ylang-ylang include love and attraction, relaxation, peace, healing, protection, and spiritual connection. It’s often used in love spells and mixtures.

Moon of the Day: Waxing Aries to Taurus

The day begins with the waxing moon in Aries, but it moves into Taurus at 5:11 PM EST.

The waxing moon (the time from the new moon til the full moon) is an ideal time for magic to draw things towards you.

Moon in Aries is good for starting things, but lacks staying power. Things occur rapidly, but quickly pass. People tend to be argumentative and assertive.

When the moon is in Taurus, things begun now last the longest, tend to increase in value, and become hard to alter. Brings out appreciation for beauty and sensory experience.

NOTE: I am a Taurus sun and Taurus moon, so I always feel this energy strongly. I typically feel the urge to beautify myself and my surroundings when the moon is in Taurus. It’s a great time for indulging in sensory pleasures – food, coffee, music, comfy clothes, bubble baths, making love, staying cozy and reading a good book – whatever brings you joy!

Magic of the Day: Peace, Love & Passion

Today’s energy promotes exploring themes of love and passion, and protecting your own peace (or encouraging peaceful surroundings and connections). Here are some of the ways I’m connecting with the energy of the day:

Wearing white clothing and quartz crystal jewelry
Lighting white candles on my altar for morning meditation and any spell work I perform today (when it fits with my intentions)
Creating a spiral of quartz crystal on my altar as a focal point for meditation (the spiral is symbolic of spiritual evolution and reincarnation)

Burning ylang-ylang incense throughout the day and at night in the bedroom to stimulate love and passion
Wearing a natural perfume made by diluting a few drops of ylang-ylang essential oil in a carrier oil such as almond or jojoba

Due to the influence of Mars and the moon moving into Taurus this evening, it’s a great night to get romantic with your partner. Feelings of passion and sensuality will be strong. It’s also a good day to focus on attracting peace, love, harmony, and happiness into your life.
